Program Accreditation

Haanel College and Metaphysical Seminary is a legal degree granting institution, functioning as an educational ministry of the Universal Church of Metaphysical Practice, Inc. We offer recognized degrees in religious studies, operating as a Religious School, and exempt from accrediting or licensure requirements because of its 501 (3) (c) status.

Graduates obtain legal Ministerial Ordination in addition to professional degrees.

HCMS has not sought, nor do we desire accreditation by any governmental or regulatory agency because the degrees we offer are religious degrees designed to meet the educational needs of those practicing metaphysical ministry as counselors, pastors, and other religious venues. We are independent and free from rigid thinking and polarizing affiliations, and we are not allied with any other institution or agency.

All HCMS degree programs are real degrees, requiring real coursework, documented with traditional transcripts. Your diplomas will be awarded only on completion of required coursework and we do not offer “honorary” degrees.

You will find that our programs use quality texts written by recognized experts.

We are not affiliated with any other educational or historical institution, and are not affiliated with any religious denomination other than the Universal Church of Metaphysical Practice, Inc. and we accept students from all religious faith traditions interested in our programs.

HCMS programs are designed for students who want to complete a serious academic program, but do not intend to pursue state licensure or recognition in a profession requiring secular degree work. Our degrees will not be recognized by governmental agencies for licensure, and aceptance by secular or non-metaphysical organizations is highly unlikely.

HCMS Degree Recognition

Perhaps more important than accreditation is the recognition a degree program has.

HCMS is recognized by professionals in inter-faith ministry, theology, counseling and professional services worldwide.

Each student is responsible to themself to make sure any degrees awarded will meet the educational and professionals goals they have established for themself.

Here is what Wikipedia says about the accreditation of divinity school programs:

“In the United States, accreditation is not required for seminaries to award religious degrees. A religious degree is valid in the United States. Institutions offering purely religious degrees are exempt from licensing requirements in many states.

Some seminaries elect to acquire accreditation in order to be recognized to award academic degrees versus religious degrees. There are several major accreditation agencies that specialize in traditional religious schools. Seminaries founded by emerging and alternative religions are almost never approved by these agencies however, because of their non-traditional theology or religious beliefs. Accreditation is thus virtually unobtainable for many religious schools. Others such as many Bible colleges purposely choose not to submit to the accreditation process because they believe it constitutes state interference with religious freedoms.”

WARNING TO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS:

Many emerging schools or colleges claim accreditation from accrediting bodies not recognized by the department of education, or even accrediting agencies they have created themselves.  We have accurately represented ourselves and our degrees, with no need to embellish the truth by claiming accreditation by an  unrecognized agency of our own creation.  Our legal status as a 501(3)(c) ministry and the oversight of a legitimate board of directors are your assurances of the validity of your earned degree from Haanel College and Metaphysical Seminary.
